Meet our Executive Committee

Company Directors

Elizabeth Sarsfield – President and Public Officer, Victoria

Elizabeth started her career producing shorts and branded content in Melbourne before entering the world of long-form drama in a number of production office roles. She found her true calling with the Locations Department, and recent credits as a manager include Netflix series Clickbait and feature film Of An Age. In 2022 she enjoyed working with the Production Support and Locations team at VicScreen, Victoria’s screen agency. Locations is the bridge between the creative ambitions of the production and the workings of the real world, and Elizabeth “hopes that ALMG can successfully forge stronger connections between location department crew, local industry, and the communities that provide special assistance with bringing our stories to the screen.“

Mark Evans – Vice President, South Australia

Mark began his film career way back in the 70s, starting as a Cameraman at a local TV Station before going freelance in the 80s, concentrating on shooting TVCs and Documentaries. He progressed to Directing, Cinematography and Producing, becoming a full member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) in 1982. Towards the end of the 90s, Mark was asked by a Producer for assistance finding some locations, which led to more offers while still directing TVCs and producing. Mark started to build credits as a Location Manager for features such as Rabbit Proof Fence, Snowtown, Hotel Mumbai, Storm Boy and Mortal Kombat, to name a few. Some of his television series experience includes The Hunting, Wanted 3, and most recently the LMGI-nominated The Tourist, working as a Location Manager as part of the team supervised by Sarah Abbey. Mark is now calling himself a “Location Consultant,” advising Producers about the practicalities of filming on location and the costings required when trying to finalise a film budget. Knowing what the ACS has achieved over the last 30 years, Mark is excited about the future of ALMG, “confident that it can build and become a real voice in the film community, with Producers and state film bodies becoming more informed regarding what makes a Location Department operate professionally.”

Jacob Livermore – Secretary, Queensland

A graduate architect, Jacob Livermore quickly found that the pen and paper wasn't going to suffice his creative hunger. Leaving his masters in architecture behind, Jacob learnt everything he knows about film in the trenches. Bold in his aspirations, Jacob produced his first feature film The Little Things in 2010, which received a string of film festival awards. Consequently, Jacob found himself as Director's Assistant and right hand man to PJ Hogan (Muriel's Wedding, My Best Friend's Wedding) in the 2011 production Mental.

In 2013 Jacob received a Screen Queensland attachment position as assistant location manager on the channel 10 mini series Secrets & Lies produced by Hoodlum Entertainment. This immediately led him into 10 years and counting as a location manager. Add to this an assortment of production roles across hundreds of television commercials, numerous movies and television series his dedication to film making is relentless.

National Executive Committee

Chris Tangey, Northern Territory

As a Northern Territory-based Location Manager, it is not possible for Chris to have a full-time career in the role, so often he is a local Location Manager under a Supervising LM or simply a Locations Assistant/Scout. His most Recent Location Manager credit, under Chris Reynold's supervision, is Amazon Prime's The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart and as NT Location Manager for both Qantas and Tourism Australia’s global TVC campaigns. Chris is currently breaking scripts down on a Netflix 6 X 1 hour drama and working on two location scouts for separate blue-chip nature series under BBC NHU. Chris is also a Cinematographer, with a feature film credit, and he is a Drone cinematographer with 20 international festival wins over the last 3 years, plus 7 x Gold ACS awards.

Chris believes “the Territory is a largely untapped location resource and is keen to train others entering the Location Department through the Guild.”

Naysan Sinave, Queensland

Naysan was born and raised in Queensland, with several childhood years growing up in Samoa and time working in Vancouver between 2015-2017. After attending film school, Naysan unsuccessfully applied for a Gold Coast crew role on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, so moved to Canada to try his luck over there. In a touch of irony, he secured his first job on the Pirates reshoot that had started filming in Canada! Naysan returned to Australia and luck was again on his side when he received a film notification the day he moved into his Brisbane apartment. He persistently called the film Location Manager for 5 weeks, until the poor man finally agreed to give Naysan a job. Since that time, Naysan hasn’t looked back and recent projects as an Assistant Location Manager include In Our Blood and Black Snow, and seasons 1 and 2 of Young Rock and Irreverent as a 2nd Unit Location Manager. Naysan is currently working on the third season of Le Brea as a Location Manager.

What Naysan finds appealing about ALMG is “being part of a group that can help one another by providing support and local and interstate knowledge.” It is also “a way for productions to have access to locations personnel that know what they’re doing, to ensure that we can return to familiar locations, and strike out for new ones with confidence and professionalism.”

Mary Barltrop, New South Wales

Mary Barltrop is a Supervising Location Manager with over 25 years’ experience in film & TV, and is a member of the Television Academy (a.k.a. the Emmys). After starting out in theatre production in the United Kingdom, Mary moved across to TV/film, and since then has worked in France, Cyprus, India, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand, on a wide range of projects for Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, BBC, ITV and others. She was also once a dresser for the Chippendales! Recent productions include Poker Face (starring Russell Crowe for Stan), Blaze (an indie film by Writer/Director Del Kathryn Barton), and Extraction (starring Chris Hemsworth for Netflix). Mary is currently working on The Artful Dodger for Disney, while being the listening ear and voice for a very busy location department in NSW!

Drew Rhodes, Victoria

Drew Rhodes is one of the most experienced Location Managers in Victoria, having worked on over 50 television series and films in a career spanning over 20 years. Drew has found and shot everything from dairy farms to deserts, big homes to bedsits, city rooftops to underground gold mines. He’s made a career out of a line of work that he fell into, largely because of a passion for film, a love of telling stories and because he doesn’t mind a chat. With an extensive resume of local and international feature films and television series including The Pacific, Animal Kingdom, The Dressmaker and The Leftovers, Drew has a “from the ground up” knowledge of filmmaking that allows him to bring the right people together to find inspiring locations and make them tick with an approach that is open, flexible and creative. According to Drew, "In this era of rapid expansion of our industry, it is more important than ever to have a support network around those working in Location Departments. It’s a job at the coal-face and as anyone who has done it knows, the environment can be challenging. The Guild provides a place to share ideas, maybe a little wisdom, a laugh, or something more serious as we all try to learn a little more about, as Jerry Maguire put it, this ‘up-at-dawn, pride swallowing siege’.”

Kate Fox, Tasmania

Kate is a content writer, producer and location manager across television and multimedia platforms based in Hobart, Tasmania. Kate spent her formative years as a production assistant, researcher and writer for the Seven Network’s Sydney Weekender, and from there, transitioned into news researching and producing, which eventually lead to the publishing industry as a journalist. Since returning to Hobart from Sydney eight years ago, Kate has worked across many large-scale commercials, and popular television series', including The Gloaming, Rosehaven and The Tailings. Her recent work as a location manager includes Deadloch for Amazon Prime, Bay of Fires for the ABC and Prosper, a Stan original series. Kate proudly waves the flag for the location crew working on the southern island.

Sarah Abbey, South Australia

Sarah began a career in film after studying Cinema Studies at Flinders University in South Australia. Workwise, she starting out in Art Department on Home & Away and by 1994 had moved back to Adelaide and across to Location Management, working on multiple films and TV series. Her last job entailed helping out in the locations department on The Fall Guy in Sydney. Sarah loves filming in her own state which is well known for varied landscapes, easy access to the Outback and the great support from all levels of government and the people of SA. She and her department were nominated for an award by the LMGI for The Tourist in 2022 (Stan). She hopes that this Guild will strengthen the film community, encourage professionalism, support our Location Managers and those that wish to enter into this side of the industry, and ultimately throw the spotlight on the very unique skills we have in a job which is as wide as it is deep.

Claire Burton, Western Australia

Claire has devoted herself to the world of film and television for over 20 years. After cutting her teeth as a Producer Manager, she moved to Location Management in the early 2000s. As she hated being stuck behind a desk, Claire found the variety of being on the road, scouting and negotiating locations as a profession, incredibly rewarding (and challenging!).

Claire’s filmography includes feature films Breath, Son of a Gun, A Few Less Men and Below. TV credits include Upright (Season 1), The Wilds (Series 2), The Heights (Series 1), Lift and KGB. In 2022 she Location Managed the international advertising campaign "Walking on a Dream" for Tourism Western Australia, which was featured on billboards around the world including Piccadilly Circus and Times Square. Claire believes that “joining and being a part of the Australian Location Managers Guild enables all states to pull together, pooling their resources, knowledge, experience, as well as people, to get the best location for the project they are working on. It’s a dynamic group of people, so is great for networking and may create potential job opportunities you may not have known existed!”

Rachael Hawkins, Western Australia

Rachael is assisting Claire to represent Western Australia. Rachael predominantly works in the world of television commercials and regularly provides scouting and location consultation for Screenwest, as well as footloose projects searching for the best place to base their films. Rachael devours information about the screen industry and has an interest in how Location Departments work across the globe. Rachael has expressed that she hopes ALMG can elevate the profession and provide opportunities for crew to upskill, and that WA continues to create exciting large-scale projects with more state and international collaborations.
