ALMG WELCOMES THE NEW NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE FOR 2024-25
IntroducING OUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS
From Left: Queensland Location Manager Roger Paul and New South Wales Location Manager Kiera Archer.
STATE REPRESENTATIVE FOR QLD: ROGER PAUL
As a child growing up in the Gold Coast, Roger loved going to the cinema and would spend hours reading stories at the local bookshop next to his family’s business. He was clearly made for the life of filmmaking, but his career initially took a different path when he began as a law clerk, then spent several years as bar manager in Vancouver. One day a producer who frequented the bar Roger worked at, encouraged him to try his luck working on a production. Roger jumped at the opportunity to work in the screen industry starting out as a production assistant, then steadily built his career as an assistant director and locations manager. Since his return to Australia, he has worked on dramas Love Is In the Air, Darby and Joan and Land of Bad, factual series The Black Hand and reality series Bachelor in Paradise and I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here (Australia and the United Kingdom.)
With over 25 years experience in both international and local screen production, Roger is an invaluable source of knowledge for ALMG crew! Roger will be sharing the role with Naysan Sinave this year.
State Representative FOR NSW: Kiera Archer
Born in Sydney and currently residing in Northern Beaches, Kiera started her journey as a graphics designer and drum tutor, before jumping on to a film set to assist a friend 14 years ago. It was on that job that Kiera met a location manager, who took her under her wing. 8 years ago Kiera went out on her own and started The Location Collective. The company does a vast amount of international and local commercials and the occasional long-form project. When asked which she prefers Kiera answers “Short form commercials are what take up the majority of my time and I have a wonderful set of clients who keep me busy, however I will jump onto a long form if the stars align. The fast paced nature of short form, as well as the flexibility and the ever changing briefs keeps us on our toes, myself and the team are constantly on the road scouting. It also allows us to take jobs from inception and see them through to the end result, our viewpoint is valued greatly and does often allow for creative input.” In the last 6 months Kiera and her team have worked on close to 60 projects. With this busy slate, Kiera is in constant contact with NSW councils across NSW and other parts of Australia.
