ALMG congratulates Australian location and production teams for The Fall Guy and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, for their nominations at the 11th Annual LMGI Awards. The ceremony will be presented by Location Managers Guild International in Beverly Hills, California on the 24th August 2024.

NSW has received not one, but three nominations this year for the awards! Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, has been nominated for the Outstanding Locations in a Period Feature Film and The Fall Guy has been nominated for Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film. Screen agency Screen NSW and council City of Sydney are both nominated for Outstanding Film Commission for their support and facilitation of the The Fall Guy.
Laura Bonarrigo, Team Leader for Outdoor Events and Filming Coordination at City of Sydney, outlined the level of contribution the council provided and the benefits of filming:
“The City of Sydney is honoured to be nominated for the LMGI Outstanding Filming Commission for our involvement in "Fall Guy." The success of such large-scale film projects indeed relies on the unique support and collaboration of businesses, local communities, and government agencies, and we’re glad the LMGI Awards recognize this.
The City of Sydney was deeply involved in facilitating the necessary approvals and logistics. One of the particularly large and complex aspects of the project was managing the extensive road closures, including the shutdown of 10 City roads within the CBD over two weekends. This was the largest road closure ever implemented in the CBD for a film production, which required careful coordination with various stakeholders to minimize disruption while ensuring the safety and success of the filming.
Filming in Sydney brings significant economic benefits to the city by boosting local businesses and creating jobs. Sydney's diverse and iconic locations, coupled with our world-class infrastructure and strong support from government agencies, make it a highly sought-after filming destination. The city offers a unique blend of urban and natural landscapes that can stand in for a wide range of settings, making it an attractive option for filmmakers from around the world.”
Location Manager Lisa Scope, Board Secretary and LMGI Regional Director of Oceania Region states:
“Being an Australian Location Manager and a LMGI board member, it's a tremendous honor to have our work recognized by peers worldwide. Being part of the International Location Managers Guild is a privilege, as it highlights the global appreciation for our craft and the dedication of location professionals. These nominations reflect the high standard of work being produced in Australia and underscores the significance of our contributions to the industry on a global scale.”
Best of luck to all the nominees from around the world this weekend!
